Butternut Squash Ravioli with Autumnal Harvest Sauce (Trader Joe’s)

Dinner cannot get any easier with this simple meal made from just five Trader Joe’s ingredients! Fall at Trader Joe’s is all the rage, and you bet I picked up some specialty seasonal items that were fall-inspired to taste test.

Some nights, you just need a really easy dinner, which is why I picked this stuff up. I am all about easy cooking! In fact, I use five ingredients here but you could even pair it down to three to make it even easier!

Ingredients

  1. Butternut Squash Ravioli – $2.99
  2. Autumnal Harvest Sauce – $3.49
  3. Crumbled goat cheese – $2.49
  4. Fresh organic sage – $1.79
  5. Butter (salted or unsalted – which ever you prefer)

Throw it Together

  1. Cook the butternut squash ravioli to package specifications (boil for about 3 to 4 minutes)
  2. Meanwhile, heat about 2 tbsp of butter in separate pan and drop a few leaves of fresh sage in (tear into pieces or rough chop). Let the butter brown up (about 2 to 3 mins) and absorb the sage flavor.
  3. Drain the butternut squash ravioli and toss in the pan with the brown butter sage sauce (you can totally stop here if you want to just have a brown butter sage ravioli – it totally works!). I added this step because I wanted to infuse more flavor into the ravioli.
  4. Next, add in the Autumnal Harvest Sauce from Trader Joe’s – you don’t need much; maybe about 1/3 of the jar.
  5. Stir until sauce is warm.
  6. Serve with crumbles of goat cheese and add a sprig of sage if you’re taking photos of your creation.

Ingredients & Nutrition Facts

Here are some ingredients and nutrition facts per the Trader Joe’s packaging. Note that the ravioli says 3 servings, but in reality, it really serves two people unless you have a lot of sides and added protein.

Taste Test

This was my first time preparing both the Butternut Squash Ravioli and the Autumnal Harvest Sauce from Trader Joe’s. I think the combination of the butternut squash and the Autumnal Harvest Sauce might be a bit much in terms of sweetness (butternut squash plus pumpkin from the sauce), but overall pretty tasty and so easy to make. It’s the perfect fall comfort food!

You’ll definitely have enough sauce left over for a second meal (cook up some penne pasta and toss in your favorite roasted veggies or protein), and that extra goat cheese will last a long time because a little goes a long way.

Have you tried any of these products from Trader Joe’s? What are your thoughts?
