Hey there June (which basically means summer has started, right)! Reasons why I love summer at Trader Joe’s: seasonal items with a lot of lemon flavors; fresh seasonal summer fruit in the produce section; and also just knowing we are one season closer to fall, lol (my favorite season)!

In this haul, along with my regular groceries, there were several new items I picked up that were new to the store like Spicy Honey and Dark Chocolate Rice Cake Thins. I also got some new-to-me items (not new to the store) like New Zealand Creamed Honey (for coffee) and a 5-Layer Bean Dip for snacking!

Haul Date: Jun 12, 2021

Haul Cost: $237.51

New Items

NEW items are marked accordingly in my post, and I’ll be reviewing them in a separate monthly recap post. This goes for new items to the store, and new-to-me items that I will be trying for the first time!

Meal Plans

I generally shop at Trader Joe’s two weeks at a time (I just hate going to the grocery store weekly).

AlsoI do keep other ingredients on hand to incorporate with these meals, which I detail in the sections below. Some ingredients are also leftover from my previous haul(s), so I try to make good use of the rest of my items to eliminate as much food waste as I can.

Here’s what I planned for this haul:

Breakfasts
  • None! We decided to skip breakfasts this round to focus on minimizing calorie intake.
Lunches
  • Chile Lime Chicken Burrito Bowls
  • Charcuterie Boxes (aka Adult Lunchables)
  • Leftovers from dinners below
Dinners
  • Mexican Chicken Zucchini Boats
  • Garlic Butter Langostinos and Mashed Cauliflower
  • Fish and Veggies with Rice

We do also cook three meals a week with Blue Apron and tend to order takeout at least once a week, so these meals are meant to be in addition to those.

Here’s what I got in my June 12, 2021 Trader Joe’s haul!

Beverages

In this haul, I got some usual suspects plus two seasonal drinks!

  • Blueberry Lemonade Sparkling Water
  • Sparkling ACV Beverages (Ginger + Lemon)
  • Sparkling Watermelon Juice (NEW to me – not sure if they were around in previous summer seasons?)
  • Sparkling Lemonade (NEW to me – same as above; not sure if they were new to the store)

Coffee Time!

We’re replenishing the coffee stock a little more frequently these days.

  • French Roast Ground Coffee (so far, this is my favorite coffee from TJ’s – but I am a novice)
  • French Vanilla Ground Coffee (my husband likes the flavored coffees – I don’t particularly care for this one as much)
  • French Vanilla Coffee Creamer
  • Creamed Multi-Floral New Zealand Honey (NEW to me!) – I wanted to add a touch of sweetness to my coffees with honey

Charcuterie Lunch Boxes

Charcuterie boxes (aka Adult Lunchables) are literally the easiest lunch for me to put together for my husband to take to work!

  • Pepper Jack & Sharp Cheddar Cheese Slices (these are easy for me to cut up into smaller pieces vs. blocks of cheese)
  • Garlic Stuffed Olives (the best garlic stuffed olives around!)
  • Cornichons
  • Babybel Cheese
  • Savory Thin Crackers
  • Applewood Smoked Salami, Pastrami, Turkey, and Ham for protein (I like to get a mix so I can change things up from week to week)

I also picked up some fresh and dried fruit to add to the lunch boxes for a little sweetness and pop of color:

  • Green Grapes
  • Strawberries
  • Plums
  • Blueberries
  • Ranier Cherries (NEW to me! And also seasonal for summer)
  • Dried Mango (plain)
  • Dried Mango (Chile Spiced – NEW to me!)

Mexican-Inspired Meals

Mexican is one of my favorite cuisines! Even if what I cook isn’t exactly authentic, I like to say it’s at least Mexican-inspired. On the menu with these ingredients are Mexican Chicken Zucchini Boats (chicken already on hand) and Chile Lime Burrito Bowls (Chile Lime Burgers and Cauli Rice already on hand).

Ingredients Bought:
  • Fresh Zucchini (I tried to get the largest ones for good boats)
  • Sour Cream
  • Guacamole to Go
  • Two different kinds of salsa (tried out the Organic Medium salsa which was NEW to me!)
  • Bell Pepper
  • Green Onion
  • Jalapenos
  • Mini Heirloom Tomatoes (love these!)
  • Yellow Onion
  • Fresh Limes

Veggie Assortment

Since I still had fish in the freezer, I picked up some vegetables to go with the fish for dinner (along with rice already on hand).

I also picked up some cauliflower to make a cauliflower mash for garlic butter langostinos (langostinos already on hand in the freezer!).

Snacks

And for all those afternoon snack cravings, here are a few items I picked up:

  • 5 Layer Dip and Chips (dip was NEW to me!)
  • Artichoke Jalapeno Dip (also to go with the chips)
  • Oven Baked Cheese Bites: Tomato & Chili (NEW to me!)
  • Dark Chocolate Rice Cake Thins (NEW to store)

For a nighttime/after dinner snack, I also got these Tangerine Dream Bars which were a NEW item to stores in June 2021! Getting those orange dreamsicle vibes right here.

Random New Items

From the new item shelf this trip, I picked up a little something for the pups (I think they are a bit spoiled – thanks Trader Joe’s!), along with something for the humans.

  • Deli Style Corned Beef Dog Treats (NEW to store)
  • Spicy Honey Sauce (NEW to store)

Plant Lady Purchases

Am I a full on plant lady yet?! I actually had a couple plants die on me, so I needed to replenish my stock. There’s nothing like a little bit of green to liven up your house (assuming you can make them survive, lol).

Household Goods

Lastly, I also needed to stock up on some household goods/essentials.

  • Laundry Detergent (love the Free & Clear)
  • Pink Pomelo Hand Soap (definitely one of my all-time favorite hand soaps, which happens to be available year round).

And that’s all for my June 12, 2021 Trader Joe’s haul! Have you tried any of the new items I picked up in this haul (whether new to store or just new to me)?
