Activate sweet tooth mode! If there’s one dessert I find myself chasing after the most, it’s ice cream. And not just traditional ice cream – it could be gelato, popsicles, ice cream sandwiches, and sorbets. You name it, I’ll try it!

When it comes to Trader Joe’s, I’ve tried a lot of ice cream treats over the years. My favorites list is constantly changing based on new flavors that get released! I actually like that they keep things seasonal to give us variety to avoid becoming bored with the same items all year long. But I do appreciate a few select year-long favorites too!

The 10 Best Trader Joe’s Ice Cream Treats

What do you think claims the number one spot?! To find out, read through my personal list of what I think are the top 10 best ice cream treats from Trader Joe’s.

10. Gingerbread Ice Cream (Seasonal)

Aside from peppermint-flavored goodies, gingerbread is one of my favorite winter flavors, especially when it comes to sweet treats. Trader Joe’s Gingerbread Ice Cream has pieces of delicious ginger snap cookies, along with a sweet gingerbread swirl.

While I think the gingerbread ice cream is good on its own, it goes especially well with the Pumpkin Sticky Toffee Pudding that comes out in the fall. This is one of the best dessert combinations I’ve had from Trader Joe’s. Trust me and try it. You won’t regret it!

Look for this to hit the freezer section in late November/early December.

9. French Vanilla Ice Cream

You can’t beat a classic vanilla ice cream when you want to keep things simple and I think Trader Joe’s French vanilla is one of the best out there! Vanilla ice cream is also incredibly versatile since you can add whatever toppings you like from caramel sauce and crushed cookies, to candies or even fruit! It’s also a great companion for a fruit pie or other warm dessert. This ice cream is a great staple to have in the freezer and comes in quart and half gallon sizes.

Trader Joe’s French Vanilla ice cream is available year-round.

8. Fruit Frenzy Bars

Not a huge fan of dairy ice cream treats? Give the Fruit Frenzy popsicles a try! These are stocked in our freezer year-round as a refreshing ice cream alternative. They are perfect for a lighter sweet treat, especially the summer months. With three layered flavors of raspberry, lemon, and strawberry, this popsicle has a great combination of both sweet and tart fruit flavors.

Fruit Frenzy Bars are available year-round.

7. Tangerine Dream Bars (Seasonal)

We can call these Orange Creamsicles with a twist! Instead of orange, Trader Joe’s Tangerine Cream Bars are made up of vanilla ice cream with a tangerine sorbet outer layer. Tangerines have a slightly sweeter flavor profile than oranges, which I think works even better with a treat like this.

I don’t know about you, but I think citrus sorbets and vanilla ice cream make such a great flavor combo. A little bit refreshing and a little bit creamy. Definitely a perfect summer/warm-weather treat.

Look for these to hit the freezer section in early summer.

6. Ube Ice Cream (Seasonal)

A few years back, ube-flavored products became all the rage and I finally understood why when I tried the Trader Joe’s Ube Ice Cream! Ube is a purple yam that’s sweeter than a sweet potato, with nutty and vanilla flavor profiles that make it the perfect addition to desserts. I was shocked at how creamy this ice cream was the first time I tried it!

It can’t come as a surprise that the ube ice cream makes my top 10 list – it is, after all, in my current profile picture for this blog.

Look for this to hit the freezer section in the spring.

5. Wildberry Cheesecake Ice Cream (Seasonal)

Another summer seasonal treat is the Wildberry Cheesecake Ice Cream filled with chunky bites of cheesecake and a mixed berry swirl. If you like cheesecake, you’ll love this ice cream. And even if you aren’t a big cheesecake fan (like myself), you’ll like it too.

Look for this to hit the freezer section in early summer.

4. Candy Cane Joe Joe’s Ice Cream (Seasonal)

Candy Cane Joe Joe’s ice cream is a must-get item from the winter seasonal lineup. In this pint of deliciousness, you’ll find peppermint and vanilla ice cream with swirls of fudge and chunks of Candy Cane Joe Joe cookies. As a huge fan of peppermint-flavored treats, this ice cream will always be on my list of favorites from Trader Joe’s!

Look for this to hit the freezer section in late November.

3. Calamansi Mango Sorbet (Seasonal)

The Calamansi & Mango Sorbet is new to Trader Joe’s as of late winter 2024 and I hope it sticks around for years to come! Calamansi is a small lime/lemon-like citrus fruit that hails from Southeast Asian countries like The Philippines and Malaysia. If you’ve never had calamansi (or calamansi-flavored anything), you need to try it. It’s refreshing, tangy, and a little bit sweet. A perfect balance and great choice for a sorbet.

Look for this to hit the freezer section in late winter (February).

2. Salted Maple Ice Cream (Seasonal)

My top spot for ice cream pint flavors has been taken over by the Salted Maple Ice Cream, which comes to the stores during the fall season. I know Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Ice Cream can be all the rage during fall, but I think the Salted Maple Ice Cream is far superior. It’s creamy; it’s salty; and it’s got brown sugar and maple flavor profiles. It’s just SO good. This is another ice cream that I think would pair well with the pumpkin sticky toffee pudding!

Look for this to hit the freezer section in early fall around September.

1. Sublime Ice Cream Sandwiches

And here we’ve come to my all-time favorite Trader Joe’s ice cream treat – the Sublime Ice Cream Sandwiches. There’s a reason why this product is always at the top of everyone’s favorites lists! Not only are they tasty, they’re also very nostalgic for me personally. They remind me of Chipwich ice cream sandwiches, which I ate all the time as a hungry teenager!

These ice cream sandwiches from Trader Joe’s have deliciously-soft chocolate chip cookies with creamy vanilla ice cream rolled in mini chocolate chips sandwiched in between. I don’t buy them that often because they will disappear in a heartbeat. You cannot beat these!

Sublime Ice Cream Sandwiches are available year-round.
