Spring and summer – the best time of year to whip up tons of smoothies! I’ll be honest though – I get super bored with smoothies very easily and need to change it up a lot. That’s why I love to use frozen fruit, because you can save some for later and move on to the next! I also don’t like complicated recipes, especially when I have to throw something together before I start work or during a break.
This is one of of my go-to smoothies recipes because it’s just plain easy. With just five ingredients, anyone can make this easy fruit smoothie!
Ingredient List
- 1 small/medium banana
- 4 large strawberries – frozen (fills about 1 cup – loosely packed – just in case you have smaller strawberries)
- 1 cup frozen mango (loosely packed)
- 1 cup non-dairy milk (my favorite is Trader Joe’s vanilla coconut milk)
- 1 scoop of protein powder (I’m diggin’ my vanilla pea protein from Trader Joe’s)
Combine all of the above in a blender and enjoy!
My Smoothie Tips
- I like to let the milk sit in the cup with the fruit to let it defrost just a little bit before using a hand-held immersion blender to blend everything up (I do this because I currently don’t have a high-powered blender like a Ninja or Magic Bullet)
- I like to use frozen fruit so that I don’t need to worry about ice cubes.
- If you want to save your fresh bananas for later, freezing them is easy! Just place pieces of them on wax paper and a cookie sheet and set the pan in the freezer until frozen. It prevents them from sticking together in your storage bag if you freeze them individually first.
- I generally only use one scoop of the protein powder for the size of smoothie I like to drink. My ingredient list above will fill up a mason jar, with a little extra leftover. If you’re making a larger smoothie, then you can go for the two protein powder scoops.
This smoothie turns out nice and creamy with a hint of banana, strawberry, and mango – and a yummy vanilla flavor thanks to the combination of the vanilla coconut milk and vanilla protein powder!
